Rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that causes facial redness and acne-like breakouts. Triggers are common: Symptoms are typically worsened by certain irritants, such as spicy foods, alcohol, heat, exercise, and stress. Rosacea usually affects adults aged 30 to 50, especially women with fair skin.

Types of Rosacea

There are different types of rosacea that exhibit different symptoms as follows:

  • Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea – facial redness and dilation of blood vessels (telangiectasias).
  • Papulopustular Rosacea – bumps, acne-like breakouts
  • Phymatous Rosacea – swelling in the nose
  • Ocular rosacea – eye irritation, swollen or puffy eyelids
